CENTRAL ENGLAND GUITAR ENSEMBLE

Central England Guitar Ensemble was founded by its musical director Andrew Gough in 2009 for adult classical guitarists based in the Midlands who wished to develop their ensemble playing skills. The group rehearses monthly at Fircroft College, Bristol Road South, Selly Oak, Birmingham on a Thursday evening.

CEGE now has members from the West Midlands, Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire performing both original works and arrangements from a wide variety of musical periods and styles. Concert programmes have included works by Albeniz, Kindle, Vivaldi, a Latin American selection, arrangements of The Beatles, Spanish repertoire and a premiere of "Gas Street Blues" by composer David Carroll.

Each rehearsal also includes a performance platform opportunity for members to play their solo repertoire and there's often a discussion on new pieces or concert dates during the tea-break!
